Beam racking is the industry's most popular and widely used racking solution, typically storing pallet units, making it ideal for warehouses storing various SKUs. Their distribution within the warehouse creates a series of internal aisles, allowing direct and individual access to all pallets. Uprights can reach heights of up to 11 meters, and beams can be adjusted vertically in 75mm or 50mm increments. The frames and beams can be designed to accommodate different pallet sizes and weights, and the aisle size is tailored to the forklifts used.

Product Details

1. Adding accessories such as back mesh, steel shelves, wire mesh panels, and pallet backstops can prevent goods from falling off.

2. Corner guards and crash barriers can prevent forklifts from colliding with the racks.

3. The racks are connected by bolts using frame-to-frame tie rods to enhance front-to-back stability.

4. When storage needs increase, additional storage space can be added by connecting the uprights to the existing rack uprights.

5. The rack base provides a stable load-bearing surface for the uprights, ensuring even load distribution; the ground can be leveled using shims.

Advantages of Beam Racks

1. Direct Access: Each pallet can be accessed via the work aisle.

2. Secure Locking System: A dual locking mechanism of hanging plates and safety pins prevents accidental beam detachment, enhancing security.

3. Easy Installation: The system can be quickly assembled and has low maintenance costs.

4. Versatility: Beam racking adapts to facility height and accommodates various loads, from pallets and containers to boxes, barrels, and reels.

5. Configurable and Expandable: Adjustable storage levels can be easily reconfigured and can be expanded by adding brackets or beam levels, such as drum supports, cylindrical object supports, storage cage supports, etc., as auxiliary support for goods.

6. Ideal for Picking: Operators can pick items on each floor or use order picking machines to pick items at higher positions.

7. Powder Coating: Improves corrosion resistance.

8. Warranty Policy: A warranty is provided for racking goods to ensure they are free from workmanship and material defects if used and maintained properly.

Beam Racking Components

Upright Panel

Upright Panel

A vertical element formed by two uprights, connected using horizontal and diagonal supports. The uprights are slotted every 2 inches to accommodate the crossbeam.
Crossbeam

Crossbeam

Equipped with welded end plates that insert into a diamond-shaped hole frame, and featuring safety pins to securely attach the crossbeam to the uprights and prevent it from falling off.
Foot Plate

Foot Plate

Bolted or welded to the bottom of the uprights and fixed to the floor. Different types of foot plates are selected depending on the upright model and the load to be supported.
Movable Base

Movable Base

A core support component at the bottom of the uprights, it's a crucial part of the rack's foundation for load-bearing and leveling. It directly determines the overall levelness of the rack, the evenness of ground stress, and installation compatibility. It often works in conjunction with horizontal and diagonal braces to ensure rack stability.

Beam Rack Accessories

Pallet Support

Pallet Support

Used for auxiliary support of pallets to prevent excessive pallet deflection.
Steel Wire Mesh

Steel Wire Mesh

Steel wire mesh increases the safety of goods and meets fire safety requirements.
Guardrail

Guardrail

Installed at both ends of the rack aisle to prevent forklifts from colliding with the rack and ensure the rack's safety.
Corner Protectors

Corner Protectors

Installed on the front of the rack uprights to protect the uprights and prevent forklift collisions.

Application of Beam Racks

Due to its simple structure, strong versatility, easy assembly, and low implementation cost, warehouse pallet shelves are the most commonly used storage system. They are particularly suitable for the following situations:

Order picking task

Order picking task

Lower levels can be configured for operators to directly pick orders from the shelves.
Storage of non palletized goods

Storage of non palletized goods

In addition to pallets, these shelves can also accommodate other types of loads (rolls, barrels), etc;
Multi client facilities

It is recommended to use a pallet shelving system to store multiple SKUs;

FAQs

What types of forklifts can beam racks be used with? Are any special forklifts required?

It can be used with stackers, counterbalance forklifts, and reach trucks, without requiring specially customized forklifts. The aisle width needs to be adjusted according to the forklift type and pallet size. The aisle width for stackers is generally 2-2.8 meters, the aisle width for counterbalance forklifts is generally 3.5-4.5 meters, and the aisle width for reach trucks can be reduced to 3-3.3 meters, accommodating most standard warehouse forklifts.

What materials are used for the uprights and beams of beam racks? How is load-bearing stability guaranteed?

The core material is high-quality Q235B cold-rolled steel. The uprights are integrally rolled and formed, and the crossbeams are welded beams, connected and fixed to the uprights by snap-fit or bolts. The structural design meets industrial load-bearing standards, and with the addition of expansion bolts for ground anchoring, it can withstand minor collisions during forklift operation, exhibiting strong load-bearing stability.

Do beam racks support both "first-in, first-out" and "last-in, first-out" modes?

Supported. Because each storage location on the rack is independent and the aisles are interconnected, forklifts can directly access goods in any location without moving other pallets. Therefore, it can achieve both first-in-first-out (FIFO) (suitable for goods requiring batch management) and last-in-first-out (LIFO) (suitable for bulk goods without batch requirements) to flexibly adapt to different storage needs.

What is the maximum span of a beam rack? What are the consequences of exceeding the maximum span?

Standard single-layer spans are designed based on pallet and cargo dimensions, with lengths ranging from 1 to 4 meters. Common sizes are 2300mm, 2500mm, and 2700mm. For larger spans (e.g., 4-5 meters), custom-made thickened beams and reinforced uprights are required. Exceeding the maximum design span will result in substandard beam bending deflection, decreased overall rack stability, and increased risk of goods falling. Therefore, it is essential to strictly adhere to the manufacturer's design parameters.

Will beam shelving rust when used in a cold storage environment? Does it require special treatment?

Ordinary beam racks are prone to rusting in the high humidity environment of cold storage. Special cold storage racks with double anti-rust treatment of "pickling and phosphating + electrostatic powder coating" should be selected. Some manufacturers can provide additional galvanizing treatment to enhance corrosion resistance, extend service life, and adapt to cold storage environments from -25℃ to 0℃.

Conventional framework support

10-15T/pair of crossbeams; 1-3T/layer
