What are the maximum height and single-layer load-bearing capacity of a double-depth rack?

The standard maximum height can reach 8-10m, which is suitable for warehouses with a net floor height of ≥9-11m; the single-layer load-bearing capacity is similar to that of beam racks, which is 1000-3000kg/layer. What principles govern the storage and retrieval of double-depth racking? Can it achieve first-in, first-out (FIFO)?

The default principle is "last in first out" (LIFO), meaning that inner pallets can only be accessed after outer pallets have been removed. To achieve LIFO, a "double-row facing layout" is required, where two rows of shelves are placed back-to-back with an aisle in between. Goods stored on one shelf are retrieved from the other shelf, and sequential access is achieved by moving the goods horizontally. However, this will occupy a small amount of aisle space.

Do double-depth racking systems require a scissor-type reach truck? Can a regular reach truck work?

A scissor lift forklift (also known as a double-deep forklift) must be used; ordinary reach forklifts are not compatible. This is because the inner pallets of double-deep racks require the forklift to extend its forks forward to the second depth position for storage and retrieval. The forks of a scissor lift can achieve two-stage extension and retraction, while the forks of an ordinary reach forklift have a limited extension and retraction distance and cannot reach the inner pallets.
